“Our rickety gates see the passing of seasons…

They’re the sentinels, the pivotal points where the garden fences meet, to keep the flowers free to do their thing.

 And it’s what flowers do that has kept me for years, in their wonderment.

From seeds pushing through the soil to grow into shapes, tall, small, horizontal and everything in between.

With some blooming for a few weeks, others most of the year. 

It’s their sheer variety, their vast array of colours, their heavenly perfume; the way they happily sway in the breeze, the way they dip in the rain, then bounce up when the sun comes out.

The way they offer safe havens for bees and butterflies.

No matter the weather, flowers are in the moment, living their best. 

Flowers endlessly give us warmth, kindness, childhood reminders, and gentle shoulders in hard times.

They say so much when sometimes words are not enough.

They tether me to the good in the world, to the joy and with so much love.

I’m grateful to be able to share that with others.”
